President & Chief Executive Officer

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley (BBBSMV) is seeking a visionary, mission-driven leader to serve as its next President & Chief Executive Officer. The new leader will follow current CEO, Jay Justin, who has led the organization for 23 years and has recently resigned to transition to retirement.

BBBSMV creates and supports mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. Our next CEO will build on a strong foundation of growth and impact, leading an organization that serves youth across eastern Iowa and western Illinois.

About the Role

The CEO serves as the chief ambassador and strategic leader of the organization, working in close partnership with the Board of Directors to advance our mission and long-term vision. The CEO oversees:

  • A professional staff of 18 team members

  • A $1.7+ million annual budget

  • Innovative, high-impact mentoring programs

  • Hundreds of volunteers and community partners

This leader will guide strategy, ensure financial sustainability, and foster a collaborative, inclusive culture that supports staff, volunteers, youth, and families.

  • Strategic planning and organizational growth

  • Fundraising and resource development (serving as the organization’s “Chief Fundraiser”)

  • Board engagement and governance partnership

  • Financial and operational oversight

  • Community outreach and relationship building

  • Advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced executive leader with a passion for youth development and a strong belief in the transformative power of mentoring. They bring:

  • Senior leadership experience in a similarly sized organization

  • Strong fundraising and relationship-building skills

  • A collaborative, transparent, and team-oriented leadership style

  • A deep commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social impact

  • High integrity, emotional intelligence, and strategic vision

A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in management or a related field is required.

Compensation

Salary range: $95,000–$125,000 annually, plus benefits. Relocation assistance is available if needed.
