Eager and motivated high school Littles and their Bigs began the journey towards summer employment by completing the BBBS Job Readiness Program.  The matches completed more than 18 hours of work to prepare for and obtain summer employment.  The photo above was taken at Session I at Scott Community College Fairmont Campus.  Session I & II utilize the Junior Achievement Success Skills curriculum.  Faciliated by JA and BBBS board member, Big Sister and St. Ambrose instructor Bonnie Sparks Gray, the Job Readiness Program instills the skills, strategy and confidence in the Little to position for success in the workplace.  The complete outline of the program is listed below.

Past graduates of the Job Readiness Program participate in a one-day "refresher course to update their resume, application information and sharpen their interview skills in preparation for the summer job search.  BBBS also provides the Littles with possible employment leads provided by our business and community partners.

The Job Readiness Program is part of our COMPASS series of enhancements providing focus and direction for our middle and high school youth in the areas of career exploration, academic achievement, employment, leadership and service.  Funding for these enhancements are made possible by a number of foundation and business partners including:  Alcoa Foundation, Hubbell-Watermann Foundation, Bechtel Trusts, Parr Instruments, and the First Midwest Bank Foundation.
