of Davenport AmeriCorps Director
Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is
to understand, implement, and facilitate the City of Davenport AmeriCorps/Youth
Corps grant program, including, but not limited to the following
the City of Davenport AmeriCorps program as approved and within requirements of
the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service and the Corporation for National and
programmatic components, develop and regularly update all policies and
procedures for grant administration, create and maintain an appropriate tracking/monitoring
and reporting system to meet compliance requirements, including member files.

of federal regulations, provisions, CNCS policy updates, state laws and
AmeriCorps administrative requirements to insure program meets all regulatory
and compliance requirements.
enroll, train, supervise, and exit AmeriCorps members and, if appropriate,
service sites, per the approved grant application;
member service agreements at the start of the term of service, monitor member
progress towards meeting goals, and track member service hours monthly;
program evaluation of members and sites, and use the information to continuously
improve the program;
with area professionals to foster esprit de corps among AmeriCorps members, and
lead trainings and developmental activities that will strengthen members’
knowledge and skills during service.

Experience with AmeriCorps grant administration preferred;
Marketing and communication skills, focused on CNCS requirements for position descriptions and member service agreement, as well as promotion of AmeriCorps opportunities;
Proficient in meeting facilitation and collaborative decision making processes, including with community partners, AmeriCorps administrative staff, and members;
Human resource proficiency including background checks, training requirements and disciplinary actions;
Competency in conflict resolution, including negotiating issues between staff, members, and/or site staff, as well as CNCS partners;
Experience in program evaluation and logic models, including measuring community and member impact and promotion of this impact; and
Experience in budget management, including basic grant management principles and reporting.
Required Education and Experience:
Minimum of Bachelor of Arts/Science in public administration, human service, education, or like degree (Master’s Preferred)
Grant administration experience, preferably state or federal grant
At least one CNCS-reviewed and approved year of AmeriCorps grant administration/coordination experience (Preferred)
Personal experience as an AmeriCorps service member (Preferred).

Stand and walk for extended periods of time
Lift 30 pounds
Bend, squat, twist and kneel
Schedule and Time Commitment:
position is a full-time exempt position, with some evening, weekend and travel
requirements. Exact schedule is
dependent upon the needs and requirements of Big Brothers Big Sisters, the City
of Davenport, AmeriCorps service members and ICVS mandates.
