Big Brothers Big Sisters matches children ages 6 through 18 with mentors in professionally supported one-to-one relationships. We have volunteer programs in communities across the country — including yours.
Making the Connection
Big Brothers Big Sisters has a variety of volunteer opportunities available.
Matches come together through our three essential programs:
-
Community-based Mentoring : For as little as an hour a week, Bigs and Littles meet in their community to share fun activities ... stories ... and a little bit of themselves.
-
School-based Mentoring : Bigs and Littles meet once a week in schools, libraries and community centers, to talk and have fun. It's not about being a tutor ... it's about being a friend.
- Site-based Mentoring : Bigs and Littles meet twice a month on area college campuses. The Big is a current college student who can expose a whole new world to a child. A Little is a child from within the community who needs and wants a positive adult role model and friend. The programs are run on the campuses of: St. Ambrose University, Augustana College, Western Illinois University and Monmouth College
Success Story:
From a Big:
"Thank you for all you have done because being involved in this program and this match has changed my life. This is why I am still here and involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters. I have thoroughly enjoyed the program and my Little Brother!"
