Our Mission

Big Brothers Big Sisters exists to enrich the lives of children by providing positive role models in a one-to-one mentoring relationship to promote self confidence, social awareness, competence and achievement for the benefit of children, families and our community.


Our Vision

In 2010, Big Brothers Big Sisters will be the recognized in one-to-one youth mentoring in our community, possessing a definitive and proven process based upon both national and local standards, serving 10% of the children in need of inmproving their developmental assets.

78% of families in the BBBS program are low or extremely low income

75% of the families in the BBBS program have a female single-parent head of household

38% of children in our program represent an ethnic group other that Caucasian

43% of the children in our program are teenagers or pre-teens (12-17)

Match numbers

We have seen our match numbers increase greatly over the past five years. We currently have 1500 active matches. We are hoping to expand that to 2,000 matches by the year 2010.

What communities we serve

We currently have four offices that serve 14 counties. We serve Scott County residents in Iowa and Rock Island, Mercer and Henry County residents through our Davenport office. The Sauk Valley office serves Carroll, Ogle, Lee and Whiteside County. The Macomb office serves McDonough and Henderson County, and the Monmouth office serves Warren County.

Satisfaction rates- 98% of adults completing the enrollment process are satisfied with the process and experience.
